First Article Technician
Job Description:
The role of First Article Technician is to utilize customer drawings and specifications to build first pieces of assemblies that have not been built previously. Through the first article build process, the First Article Technician compiles pertinent information to be added to the paperwork to determine the best and most efficient method(s) by which to build product and helps to implement those plans on the production lines. The First Article Technician works closely with management to address issues found and ensure contractual deadlines are met.
Duties and Responsibilities:

First Article Builds
Compile pertinent information to develop the most efficient build process during the first article build phase.
Alert Methods Engineers of any questions found during first article build process to be formally submitted to customer for clarification.
Filter any adjustments needed to the bill of materials/in process routers/work instructions during build process to the Methods Engineers for updating.
Take photos of all stages of the first article build process to be included in work instructions.
Use information gathered in the first article build process to create detailed work instruction to be used on the production floor.
Production Support
Provide support to production floor when any questions arise.
Qualifications:
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Competent working with MS Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
Ability to read and comprehend cable drawings.
Ability to read and comprehend specifications and standards.
Ability to safely use soldering irons, wire strippers, crimpers, grinders, multimeters, meggers, heat guns and cable manufacturing machinery.
Math skills required with the ability to work with fractions and decimals.
Must know how to read and use measuring equipment (ruler, tape measure, calipers).
Minimum of 2 years in manufacturing industry, preferably in the field of cable manufacturing.
